Key Points
Netflix is raising prices for most users after posting record numbers and emerging as a clear winner of the streaming wars.
The company doubled its ads revenue in 2024 and predicts similar growth in 2025.
Netflix's big bet on budget-conscious streamers is paying off. After a rocky post-pandemic period, rising inflation, and changing viewing habits, the company is full of confidence and raising prices across the board.
Advertising revenue doubled last year, with many new subscribers opting for the company's cheaper, ad-supported plans. – particularly in smaller and emerging markets like Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and most of Western Europe, where ads-plan membership saw a 30% increase last quarter. Netflix aims to replicate its ad-supported growth in 2025.
While ad-supported subscribers currently generate less revenue than ad-free ones, Netflix is working towards closing this gap. The company is also exploring additional revenue streams by airing live events, NFL games, and the Women’s World Cup, which could further boost its ad revenue and rivaling traditional cable TV.
